 Samsung Refrigerator Water Filter June 17, 2010
This water filter was just what I wanted and needed. After being unable to find one at the local stores, I ordered 2 on Amazon and received the filters about 4 days later.

The filter I received gave the water a metallic or iodine taste (a little like band-aids). The instructions that came along with it direct you to run water through it for five minutes when installing it- a nearly impossible task unless your refrigerator has a drain system (mine doesn't). After running countless gallons of water through it, the taste remains.
Samsung refused to allow a return on the item because I was outside of the return policy.
I would not risk this filter, and would recommend bypassing it altogether with an in-line filter from another, more reputable company. Whatever contaminated my filter *fortunately* tasted bad, so I knew to not use it- but what if the contaminants had been orderless or tasteless?

While, I don't have any complaints about my filter, I will note that other reviewers claim that their previous filter was double the capacity of this one. My particular refrigerator actually came with the same 300 gallon capacity filter, so it was an even replacement for me.
I've had it for several weeks now, and haven't seen any issues, so I am glad that I didn't go for the cheaper filter which many folks seem to have had issues with.

This item is sold at SamsungParts for $34.91. I expected to get it cheaper from Amazon than getting it directly from Samsung... even it is offered by third party.
