A piece of junk. August 28, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The first unit we received had a leaky water tank. The second unit we got had a crack in the water tank. The third unit worked fine for a few weeks, then the cooling function and all the lights on front went dead.
The worst part is the time wasted in setting each of these units up. It takes over an hour to get the filter ready and all the tanks filled and primed.
I don't know if Amazon just has a bad batch, or is sending out returns from other customers, but I would buy with caution.
Had high hopes on this system August 19, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Where do I begin? Day #1, the unit arrived and the filter was defective. So, I called Amazon and they sent me a replacement filter. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the filtration system for about 3 months when the boiling water started coming out orange. RUST! Since it's past the Amazaon 30 day return window, I'm dealing with the manufacturer (Cuisinart). I will be getting a replacement water filteration system and will need to return the old unit back to them. BTW, I have to pay for shipping to receive the unit and to send them the old unit! RIDICULOUS. I am giving the filtration system one more chance before I totally give up and go with Deer Park.
Great machine August 19, 2010 I bought this water filtration system because my water in my house tastes awful. I never knew if I was going to get a metal taste or worse. I've had this machine for a month, and it's great. My coffee tastes much better, and I can drink water knowing it will taste like water should.
Other reviews talk about the noise level. I don't think the noise is all that bad. I have a very small house, and it doesn't bother me when I'm watching TV. I also don't turn it on until I want hot or cold water. The hot water gets hot quickly, the cold water takes a little longer though. The hot water only puts out a couple of cups then has to reheat.
This is a small unit compared to the 5 gallon standing systems, but because you fill it up with your own tap water you don't have to mess with lifting, or returning the water bottles. The water flow is slower, but it doesn't bother me, as it is only about ten or more seconds to fill a water bottle.
Over all great machine.
works well but water not that cold August 7, 2010 This works pretty well and I think it filters better than the small pitcher types. The hot water is hot enough for tea, coffee and instant oatmeal. The cold water is NOT that cold. There isn't much more than a big cup/mug that comes out. Then you need to wait for it to heat/cool water again.
My only concern is how fresh the water stays in the tank. It's been really hot and humid this summer so I moved this into an air conditioned area of my apt (kitchen isn't cool). I would try to use the water up within a few days or just dump what's in there and refill it with fresh water. I try to use it up by cooking with this water.
Overall works as described and looks nice on the counter. I'm not sure I'd get the hot/cold water feature in hindsight but will just keep this one.
A product that really does what it promises. July 31, 2010 Although the exhaust fan is a little strong, the water is heated VERY quickly. The internal hot and cold tanks must be well insulated, because the cold tank keeps the water cold for quite a while. This appliance works great in an office.
